The Varesko Lake among the inhabitants of Vareš, known as zero, originated in the early 1990 on the dig of the former iron ore mine. The lake is about 500 m long and the width of 300 m, while the depth is about 100 m.

It is only 1 km away from Vares, and the local population uses it in hot summer days to coold down and refresh, as well as for fishing, because it is rich with creek trout, and Californian trout.

Also, the lake is considered the biggest bunker of drinking water in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which also showed several analyses made in the last period.
